About the Online Workshop for
Europe and the United Kingdom

The next workshop will be on the 29th of March 2025

The reason the date of the workshop is so far in the future is to guarantee that everyone will receive their kit on time for the event, that is why you can only sign up from the 19th of February until the 3rd of March.

In that kit, everything you'll need is prepared carefully, giving you all the tools you need to insure you'll get the best results in your embroidery work!

History of Sashiko

During the talk, I will introduce the Japanese art of

Sashiko embroidery.

you will learn about its history,

from its original purpose

in the Edo period to

its increasing popularity today

with the sustainable appeal of

visible mending.

It is a beginner's workshop,

so we will go over the basics

as to what types of fabrics and yarns are best suited for the work, how to use the materials

to hand stitch a

beautiful artwork.

The project

During this 3 hour workshop,

you will learn the basics of the traditional Sashiko stitching,

while creating denim patches.

After choosing from a wide range of patterns, you will get started on the embroidery,

I will show you how

to embroider several patterns on patches that you can then

use as appliqué, to embellish or repair any existing garment of yours!

The outcome

After the course, you'll have

the tools you need to repair and strengthen fabric using different Sashiko patterns, knowing what materials to use to do so in a creative way.

You will have learned the basic Sashiko stitches out of different patterns and will have the

skill set to explore new ones on your own!

What you need

Level : Suitable for complete beginners

These essential tools will be provided for you and shipped to you after you sign up :

1 skein of Sashiko yarn

1 Sashiko needle

3 denim squares already marked

Hand out instructions

However, you will need these small tools at your disposal :

A pair of scissors

A ruler

Some sewing thread

Some chalk to mark the fabric

(A normal chalk stick can work)

And of course a computer with a microphone and camera

When/Where?

The workshop will happen live, online via Microsoft Teams and there will be 8 spots

available per workshop

Central European time (UTC +1)

This time zone covers most of Europe, the United Kingdom and the African continent but the time may vary depending on the country you are from so be careful to check the time difference before you sign up!

Cancellation policy

If you cannot attend the workshop please notify me with an e-mail at least 48h in advance.

Since the material will

already have been shipped to you, you will only get a

partial refund of 70% of the

total amount you paid

Timeline of the event

Once the date for the workshop is announced,

you will have 2 weeks to sign up.

After that the event will be closed.

After you've booked and payed for the workshop,

you will receive a confirmation email

and the materials you need will be shipped to you.

One week prior, you will receive a reminder for the event with

the exact time you need to attend depending on your location.

On the day on of the Workshop,

please take 15min before the starting time

to log in and open the email I will have sent you

with a link to the meeting.

Click on the link to microsoft Teams,

you do not need an account, you can open it in your usual browser.

Make sure that your camera and microphone are working properly.
